Tropical Storm Debby has caused significant rainfall and damage as it made its second landfall in South Carolina, with wind speeds of 50 mph. The storm originally hit Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, resulting in six deaths, mostly from falling trees. It is forecasted to continue moving slowly across North Carolina, bringing heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding. Parts of the state could see up to 15 inches of rain. The storm’s effects have been widespread, impacting weather from Florida to the Carolinas and into the Mid-Atlantic states. Some areas, like Parrish, Florida, have already recorded almost 19 inches of rain. Several tornadoes have also been associated with the storm, causing damage to homes and trees. Overall, Debby is expected to continue weakening as it moves inland, but the threat of severe weather and flooding remains as it makes its way through the region.
