Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola won the men’s marathon at the Paris Olympics with an Olympic record time of 2:06:26, dominating the race and crossing the finish line with his nation’s flag draped over his shoulders. Team GB’s Emile Cairess also had a strong run, briefly getting into medal contention before falling back in the final stages. In Taekwondo, Caden Cunningham advanced to the quarterfinals in the men’s 80kg+ competition.
