Manure-filled semi catches fire after collision with molasses-carrying truck

Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Friday afternoon on Interstate 84. The crash involved a 26-year-old male driving a 1998 Freightliner semi-truck loaded with manure, and a juvenile passenger. The Freightliner was struck from behind by a 49-year-old male from Clovis, California, driving a 2013 Freightliner loaded with cane molasses, causing the 1998 Freightliner to catch on fire in the center median. The driver of the 2013 Freightliner was wearing a seat belt, while the driver of the 1998 Freightliner and the juvenile passenger were not. They were both transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The left eastbound lane of Interstate 84 was blocked for over four hours as a result of the collision. The Idaho State Police were assisted by several local agencies in responding to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
