A young girl was attacked by a black bear in Montana while inside a tent at a private campground south of Red Lodge. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on a Sunday night. The girl’s age and condition have not been disclosed, but reports indicate she is 3 years old. Authorities believe that unsecured items at the campsite attracted the bear to the area. The child was taken to a hospital in Billings, located about 60 miles northeast of Red Lodge. The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks captured and euthanized a black bear believed to be the one involved in the attack. The Northeast entrance to Yellowstone Park is approximately 70 miles south of the campground where the incident took place. More information about the incident is expected to be released by the agency.
