A bull in Massachusetts broke free from a slaughterhouse-bound truck, crashing through fences, running across a highway, and swimming through a lake before being shot and killed by police in Raynham. The 1,300-pound animal caused a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 and injured a driver before fleeing into the woods and swimming in Lake Nippenticket. When the bull aggressively swam towards officers and farm staff, one officer fired at it with a rifle but was unable to stop it. Additional shots were fired, and the bull was finally disabled before the farm owner used a hunting rifle to euthanize it. A body camera video captured the encounter, showing the dramatic and dangerous situation officers faced. The police chief commended his officers for handling the situation effectively and preventing further injury or destruction, acknowledging the unexpected nature of facing a charging 1,300-pound bull. The incident highlights the difficult decisions and risks law enforcement officers face in responding to unexpected and dangerous situations like this one.
