Deputy Brandon Cunningham of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office was killed while responding to a domestic dispute in Georgia. This is the first time the office has lost a deputy in the line of duty. Cunningham and another deputy were met with gunfire from a suspect inside a home upon their arrival, with Cunningham being fatally struck. Sheriff Gary Gulledge described Cunningham as a hero and asked for prayers for his family. Cunningham had been with the Sheriff’s Office for two years and leaves behind two children. The female victim from the dispute call was also shot but is in stable condition at a hospital. The male suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the incident is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The whole staff at the Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Deputy Cunningham, who was described as a good young man.
