Fabian Hernandez, a 32-year-old man, was arrested in Rexburg after admitting to shooting and killing a woman after an argument. The victim, Ariana Ramos Chavez, was found shot multiple times outside her home. Hernandez confessed to the murder and stated that he blacked out, but no one else could have committed the crime. The argument reportedly stemmed from issues of infidelity and drug use, with Hernandez spending hundreds of dollars per week on methamphetamine. He purchased the gun used in the shooting for $300. Hernandez was found with drug paraphernalia at the jail and could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted. A no-contact order was issued for the children who lived at the home where the murder occurred. Hernandez is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 4. It is important to note that while Hernandez has been charged, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. For more updates, visit https://www.eastidahonews.com/.
