A 37-year-old man from Tennessee, Kyl Alton Hall, has been charged with making alleged social media threats against President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former President Barack Obama. He was indicted on two counts of threatening a sitting president or vice president and one count of a threat to a former president, with each charge carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison. The threats were reportedly made on the social media platform X, with Hall allegedly threatening to kill, assassinate, shoot, and crash the plane of Biden, as well as threatening to assassinate Harris and Obama. The U.S. Secret Service investigated the case, and it will be prosecuted by the national security and civil rights unit in the local U.S. attorney’s office. The charges coincide with the appearance of Biden, Harris, and Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Harris accepted her party’s presidential nomination. A spokesperson for the Secret Service has not yet responded to a request for comment on the case.
