The Latest Updates on Wildfires in Idaho

Wildfires continue to rage across Idaho and eastern Oregon, prompting multiple evacuation notices and closures of major roads. According to the Idaho Department of Lands, as of August 25, 254 fires have burned over 23,977.5 acres in Idaho alone. The fires have posed a significant threat to public safety, forcing the closure of State Highway 21 from Loman to Stanley.

Authorities have issued evacuation orders in various areas affected by these fires. The Wapiti Fire, which has burned over 79,745 acres, remains zero percent contained. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office has announced new evacuation orders, with some areas being placed in “Ready,” “Set,” or “Go” statuses based on the level of threat posed by the fire.

Other fires, including the Middle Fork Complex, Snag Fire/Dollar Fire, Wolf Creek and Boulder Fire, Goat Fire, Limepoint Fire, and Greyhound Fire, also continue to burn in different parts of the region, prompting additional evacuation notices and safety measures.

The ongoing wildfires have led to closures of major highways and forest areas to ensure public safety. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates to residents. The containment efforts by firefighters and emergency personnel, alongside community support and preparedness, remain essential to combatting the wildfires and protecting affected communities.
