Dorothy Moon to Serve Another Term as Chairwoman of Idaho Republican Party, Reports Idaho Capital Sun

Idaho Republican Party Chairwoman Dorothy Moon was reelected to a second two-year term at the 2024 Republican State Convention, defeating challenger Mary Souza. The convention, held at North Idaho College, was marked by tight security and media restrictions, with reporters barred from committee meetings and general sessions. Moon’s reelection was met with a standing ovation from delegates, as she emphasized honoring the party’s platform.

In other leadership races, Mark Fuller was elected first vice chair, Viki Purdy as second vice chair, Maria Nate as Secretary, Steve Bender as Treasurer, Bryan Smith as National Committeeman, and Vicki Keen as National Committeewoman. Moon, who first became chairwoman in 2022, described herself as a hard worker and rule-follower, dedicated to upholding the party’s values.

Throughout the convention, security guards patrolled and restricted journalist access, prompting criticism from Idaho Democratic Party Chairwoman Lauren Necochea. Necochea condemned the reelection of Moon, stating that it further solidified extremists within the Idaho Republican Party. She encouraged voters to consider Democratic candidates in response to the changes in the Republican Party.

Despite the secretive nature of the convention, Moon’s leadership and vision for the party prevailed. With a focus on following the rules and honoring the platform, she looks forward to continuing her work for the next two years. The Idaho Republican Party remains under her guidance as she continues to lead the party forward.
