Environmental Group Calls for Investigation into Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Whale Beheading Incident
An environmental conservation group is calling for an investigation into Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after his daughter recounted an incident where he used a chainsaw to behead a whale carcass that washed ashore near their home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. The bizarre story, shared by Kennedy’s daughter Kathleen in a 2012 interview, resurfaced on social media recently.
The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund has written a letter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, urging them to look into whether Kennedy violated federal laws protecting wildlife and potentially jeopardized scientific research. The group highlighted the importance of not collecting parts of endangered species and interfering with scientific work, particularly with marine mammals that are difficult to study.
Kennedy, who suspended his independent White House bid and endorsed former President Donald Trump, has faced a series of scandals in his personal life, including a parasitic worm crawling into his brain in 2010 and allegations of eating a dog and sexual assault. He also admitted to placing a dead bear carcass in Central Park in 2014.
The environmental group’s call for an investigation adds to the string of controversies surrounding Kennedy, drawing attention to his questionable actions. CNN has reached out to both Kennedy and NOAA for comment on the matter.
