Paralympic athletes from around the world are breaking records and competing fiercely in various events at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Daphne Schrager of the UK and Wang Xiaomei of China set new world records in cycling, while GB men’s basketball team defeated Germany. In wheelchair rugby, GB successfully defended their title against Australia. In basketball, GB women are dominating Spain, while the men’s team is facing off against Canada.
In swimming, Tully Kearney and Suzanna Hext are aiming for gold, while Olivia Newman-Baronius, Poppy Maskill, and William Ellard are competing in the S14 butterfly event. Spain’s Teresa Perales, with 27 Paralympic medals, is also making waves in the pool at 48 years old.
Looking ahead, highlights include Kadeena Cox defending her 500m time trial title and Daphne Schrager going for gold in the individual pursuit event. Tonight, there will be the men’s T11 long jump and Petrucio Ferreira of Brazil aiming for gold in the T47 100m race.
