There were four deaths this month at Grand Canyon National Park, including an 80-year-old man who died when his boat flipped.


An 80-year-old man visiting Grand Canyon National Park died after his boat flipped in the Colorado River near Fossil Rapid. Despite CPR efforts, he could not be resuscitated. His death is under investigation, marking at least the fourth fatality at the park in August. The body of Chenoa Nickerson, 33, from Gilbert, Arizona was also found in the river after going missing during a flash flood, and the body of Leticia A. Castillo, 20, was found below the rim of Twin Overlooks following a search. A man also died after a failed BASE jump from Yavapai Point. Park officials are investigating each incident to determine the exact cause of death.
