The 2-year-old Dutch shepherd was in the process of becoming certified for narcotics detection and patrol work. His handler found him dead at home, despite appearing healthy earlier in the day. The department expressed their sadness at losing Diezel at the beginning of what was expected to be a successful career serving the community. They thanked the Idaho Falls Veterinary Hospital staff for their care of the K9. Diezel’s sudden death has been particularly hard on his handler, who had a close bond with the dog.
