Jack Eyers from Great Britain won the men’s VL3 Va’a 200m sprint with a Paralympic Games best time of 48.59 seconds. Fatima El Idrissi from Morocco is leading the women’s T12 marathon, while Zhang Feifei from China leads the 86kg powerlifting event with a lift of 150kg. In the KL2 final, Charlotte Henshaw and Emma Wiggs will compete in what is expected to be a close race.
Wajdi Boukhli from Tunisia won gold in the men’s T12 marathon, with Alberto Suarez Laso from Spain taking silver and El Amin Chentouf from Morocco winning bronze. Catherine Debrunner from Switzerland won the women’s T54 marathon, with Madison de Rozario from Australia taking silver and Susannah Scaroni from USA winning bronze.
Aliakbar Gharibshahi from Iran set a Paralympic record of 252kg to win gold in the men’s up to 107kg powerlifting event, with Sodnompiljee Enkhbayar from Mongolia taking silver and Jose de Jesus Castillo Castillo from Mexico winning bronze. Marcel Hug from Switzerland won the men’s T54 marathon for the third time in a row.
Meanwhile, British athlete David Weir announced his retirement from international competition after finishing fifth in the T54 marathon. The final day of the Paralympic Games promises more thrilling competition in canoeing and basketball.
