Law enforcement is actively searching for Joseph A. Couch, a suspect in a mass shooting that occurred near a Kentucky highway, leaving five people seriously injured. Deputies found nine vehicles that had been shot into on Interstate 75, with all five victims being shot. The most serious injuries include one person shot in the face, another in the arm, and a third across the chest. Despite stable conditions, authorities are cautioning residents to remain vigilant. The shooter’s actions were described as “sniper-like” and deemed a random act, with the suspect believed to have acted alone and not in a vehicle at the time of the shooting. Couch was upgraded from a person of interest to a suspect after his silver vehicle was discovered near the scene along with an AR-15 rifle, gun case, and charged magazines. Law enforcement conducted an extensive search for Couch, with around 50 to 60 members involved until 3 a.m. on Sunday and a smaller specialized group resuming the search later that morning. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, according to Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. The investigation is ongoing, with more updates to follow as the situation develops.
