University of Idaho swimmer Ginger Kiefer has been named the Jersey Mike’s Women’s Swimmer of the Week by the Western Athletic Conference, marking her second time receiving this honor this season. Kiefer stood out at the recent meet against Northern Arizona with three individual victories, setting WAC-best times in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM. Her performance included breaking a pool record in the 200 IM and narrowly missing another in the 200 back. Kiefer’s times are leading the conference by a significant margin.
In addition to her individual successes, Kiefer was also part of the winning 200-medley relay team. With a total of eight individual wins, two relay victories, and an MPSF 5k Open Water title under her belt, Kiefer has established herself as a standout athlete in the league.
The Vandal’s next challenge will be a dual meet against Seattle University at home on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. PST. With Kiefer’s exceptional performance and leadership, the team is looking to continue their success in the upcoming meet.
Kiefer’s recognition as the Women’s Swimmer of the Week highlights her talent and dedication to the sport, as well as the University of Idaho’s strong presence in the swimming community. Fans and supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer on Kiefer and the Vandals as they strive for more victories this season.
