Chubbuck Family Spreads Holiday Cheer with Santa’s Mailbox
CHUBBUCK (KPVI) — The holiday season is upon us, and the Decker family from Chubbuck is embracing the spirit of Christmas in a unique way. For the third consecutive year, they have set up a festive mailbox for Santa, encouraging local children and families to send their letters to the North Pole.
In 2023, the Deckers received an impressive 400 letters from families across southeast Idaho and northern Utah, and they hope to surpass that number this year. Wayne and Sabrina Decker shared their motivation behind the initiative, stating, “We just wanted something fun for kids to do and families, and it has just grown from there." The first year saw about 300 letters, which increased to 400 last year, largely due to families visiting from out of town during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Residents are invited to drop off their letters at Santa’s Mailbox, located at 4832 Wiltshire Street in Chubbuck. To receive a reply from Santa, families are encouraged to include a return address, ensuring that the magic of the season continues. The mailbox will remain open until Christmas Eve, but letters must be submitted by December 18 to guarantee a response.
The Deckers also invite participants to share their experiences by joining the Facebook group "Santa’s Mailbox Pocatello/Chubbuck," fostering a sense of community and holiday joy. As Christmas draws near, the Decker family’s effort serves as a delightful reminder of the season’s spirit, encouraging creativity and connection among families in the region.
