911 call made public in University of Idaho student murder investigation

The release of a 911 call from the day of the tragic murders of four University of Idaho students in Moscow has shed new light on the events leading up to their deaths. The call, obtained and released in its entirety by KXLY-TV in Spokane, captures the panic and terror of the roommates as they report that one of their friends is unresponsive and there was a strange man in their house the night before. The dispatcher instructs them to check on their friend and determine if she is breathing, while also sending help to the scene.

Bryan Kohberger, 30, is accused of fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen in the early morning attack. Two other roommates who were in the house at the time were unharmed. The roommates described seeing a man in black clothes and a mask in the house, prompting fears and confusion before the tragic events unfolded.

Kohberger’s trial is set to begin in August and is expected to last more than three months. If found guilty, he could face the death penalty for his alleged role in the deaths of the four young students. The newly released 911 call, along with previously unsealed text messages and call transcripts, provide a chilling insight into the chaos and fear that gripped the home on the day of the murders.
