A powerful winter storm is pummeling the central mountains with heavy snowfall


Central Idaho is expecting significant snowfall, with up to 18 inches in the ski areas of McCall by midday Sunday. Highways 55, 95, and 21 will be very snowy until 9am Sunday. The valley will experience milder temperatures of 60-65 degrees with gusty southeast winds. The weather will turn colder on Monday and Tuesday, with a chance of afternoon showers on Monday and drier and breezy conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday. Another significant storm is expected by Thursday.

The Treasure Valley forecast includes periods of rain on Sunday night with a low around 39. Sunday will see an early morning shower followed by mostly cloudy and breezy conditions, with highs of 60-65. Gusty winds are likely with a cold front. Monday will be mostly cloudy with possible afternoon showers and a high near 50. Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs near 50 and 54, respectively. Thursday brings rain likely before noon with a high near 52. Friday has a chance of rain and snow with a high near 53, while Friday night and Saturday also have chances of rain with lows around 37 and highs near 54, respectively.
