Employees at Brigade Screen Printing in Boise have been working tirelessly to create “Everyone is Welcome Here” t-shirts following a controversial incident at Lewis and Clark Middle School. The phrase was inspired by a poster that was asked to be removed by the West Ada School District, sparking a community response.
Many of the employees at Brigade Screen Printing have children in the West Ada district and felt strongly about supporting the message of inclusivity. The shop’s general manager, Brittany, emphasized the importance of the phrase in promoting a welcoming environment for all students.
Chris Stewart, a West Ada parent, took the initiative to organize support for the teacher, Mrs. Inama, by creating and distributing thousands of t-shirts bearing the same message. The shop is not making a profit from the shirts, selling them at cost to encourage widespread participation.
Local residents who have not received their shirts can pick them up at Brigade Screen Printing at the Boise Outlets on Friday and Saturday. The goal is for everyone in the community to wear a shirt on Monday to show solidarity and promote inclusivity in the face of adversity. The response to this event demonstrates the community’s commitment to standing together and supporting diversity and acceptance.
