A 47-year-old Twin Falls man, Robert William Halstead, was arrested and charged with felony enticing a child through the internet and sexual exploitation of a child after allegedly asking a 15-year-old girl for nude images of herself. The investigation began on Jan. 2, when the girl’s mother reported her daughter had been in contact with adult men online. The Idaho Falls Police Department’s digital forensics team found Facebook Messenger conversations between the girl and Halstead, where he asked for nude images and made sexually explicit remarks. Halstead also suggested meeting up with the girl but was pulled over in Burley before they could meet. Further evidence was found on a “burner” phone belonging to the girl, including images and videos of the victim. Halstead is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 26th. It’s important to note that being charged with a crime does not necessarily mean guilt, as everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
